How to send songs over iMessage straight from iPhone?

I just discovered that I'm able to send music files via iMessage by dragging the audio file into my Messages application on my macbook. Is there any way send song directly from my iPhone?

Also, is there a way to save the file recieved?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4

I'm curious why it's not possible to attach mp3 music files to an SMS iMessage? Doesn't seem that the enabling software would be that difficult. Possibly a business issue? Are the music companies opposing it ... for fear of losing control of copyrighted music (i.e. Napster)? Is Apple protecting iTunes? Or is it the phone companies who can't or won't enable? Just curious. Is the limitation the same for Android phones? Thanks!

I believe that they keep this in place due to copyright issues and not wanting people to be able to share music in that manner. It is a hassle though! I made a song via Garageband and then exported to iTunes via my iPhone. The problem now is I just wanted to send it via iMessage to a few people for Xmas but I have to due it via my computer. Unfortunately the also have to use iMessage.
