Podcasts on Shuffle - !!??

Given I-Tunes integration with podcasts is it not reasonable to expect that we would want to listen to them on our Shuffles? Why is it so difficult to get a shuffle to recognise a podcast? The only way I can get my shuffle to load a pod cast is to drag the podcast to the desktop, delete all references to the podcast from I Tunes (in Library, subscribed podcasts etc) and then drag the MP3 file directly into my Pod playlist before updating the Pod itself.

This is very convoluted. Is there an easier way, given that Macs / Apples are meant to be both smart and easy to use?

If that's the case, something is corrupted in your setup, either something with the shuffle or the iTunes preferences/library.

The podcasts should stay in the playlist order, works fine on mine.

I've been experiencing a similar problem.
My meditation music and guided meditations were getting mixed up (both are podcasts) and its not a good thing to be flipping through a playlist during a class.
I tried many of the suggestions made in this thread, and others, and discovered that...

Regardless of what playlist you put your podcasts into before copying (via drag or autofill) them into your shuffle, they will play in the order they appear in your podcast library. They may sync in a different order, but they will play as downloaded to your library.

A few work-arounds...

I changed the genre of my yoga music from "podcast" to "new-age" and grouped the tracks into a complilation. Now my meditations are not interspaced with my yoga music. I still have to flip past the podcasts to get to the yoga music, but at least the yoga music plays in a predictible order. Then I just go back to the beginning to get to my guided meditations.

I end up emptying and reloading the shuffle more often, because in the afternoon I have to get ready for French class, and I talked my advisor into granting extra language credits for the FrenchPodcast! 😉

Unless & until iTunes creates a fix for this problem, this is simply something we have to deal with creatively.
