There are only the same 3 albums in the previous I tunes folder that are in the i tunes library, nothing else to copy and paste, everything else does not show up,
Your media should normally be in <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media\<Etc.> not <User's Music>\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries.
Was your library working properly on this computer before you reinstalled iTunes, or is there something you've left out of the picture?

library was working properly before I reinstalled I Tunes.
Is the media folder in the usual place of <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media ?
Is the media still present in the media folder?

Yes, it is in that order and this is what is in the itunes media folder :
1. automatically add to
2, downloads
3.music
and under music is the 3 albums that I still have after the others dissappeared.
Is the media still on the shuffle?
Are the three albums you do have iTunes Store purchases?
Has anything else changed, new/temporary user profile for example?
Have you searched the entire computer for files of the form *.mp3 or *.m4a in case things have been inadvertently moved to the wrong path?

media on my i pod
all 3 albums are store purchases
nothing changed
have looked everywhere
I do have them on another computer, can I copy them from there?

Indeed, see this migrate iTunes library post.

but I have both my desktop and my laptop as authorized computers and want to keep them that way.
Sure, that works. You'd only deauthorize a machine you no longer wanted to use.
