External Sound Device>MIDI Controller>Garadge Band

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, with the included Garage Band. I successfully attached an M-Audio Axiom 49 to it, and it has worked very well. Now the problem; I am trying to attach a Roland JV-2080 synth module to my Axiom 49 using a standard MIDI cable, then run the Axiom into Garage Band through the USB MIDI interface. I can't get any sound out of the combination, and I was hoping someone could help me out.

Ok so now that I have the Stop, Play etc.... working how do I "activate" the sliders? When I hooked up the Axiom right out of the box 1 of the sliders controlled the volume for the instrument that I was on, but now it does not do anything.

Also does the 10 key on the left side do anything? I mean can I assign them to anything?

and on last question and you guessed it do the rotary knobs allow you to assign anything to them?

I have Enigma but I cannot figure out if any of the seeings work in GB......

Any help would be appreciated
