mavericks keeps freezing when i want to delete something and cannot see application or documents. its made my mac really slow. very disappointed.

meant to say that i have a may 2011 macbook pro and was fine with snowleopard, but i took up the offer of free upgrade to mavericks and am considering wiping my drive and going back to previous os. i cant even click on the arrow at the side of a folder to view it, it just wont do anything. the same when i download something. it wont show up in my download section for ages unless i quit finder for a while. there seems to be something seriously wrong with finder.

ive read elsewhere that finder can be cpu heavy. i dont seem to have that problem when looking via activity monitor but my mac has become very slow and really annoying.

any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated, or im gonna wipe and start again. if i was convinced by the system i would do a fresh install instaed of the upgrade i did.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I am impressed, you do very well writing despite your dyslexia.

That sounds like a good plan. I have 8 GB of RAM in my MBP 8,2, and a 500 gig SSD (samsung). It is very fast. I do some audio recording and editing (this is me, recorded with Logic Pro: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r7vnn1ilcgaq9bz/path%C3%A9tique%20dub.m4a), and a bit of video editing (the kids' recitals) and I never see the SBBOD (spinning beachball of death).

4 GB seems to be a minimum for basic Mavericks function but not for more memory intensive work.

I still need my optical drive for burning DVD's from time to time. I don't really know enough about how an extra SATA HD would function vs. an external drive.

If you do replace your internal drive that would be a good opportunity to do a clean install too.

hey there, AGAIN!,

bet ur gettin pi..ed at me bugin you but you helped my mac become a mac again, instead of,.... well slower mediums, such as another laptop i have by the way. that was the lure for me with mackeeper, the fact they were offering virus protection for both platforms.

Im sorry but i hate itunes, its so un-intuative and a pain in the ***.

my player of choice besides traktor is vlc when i want to listen to an album. i admit i like the little fade you get in between tracks but it dont play flac and i dont want to add more to my drive just coz im playin summin. why add it to a library when i just wanna play it and thats it.

i dont listen to things more than a few times and having to delete the library every now and then is also a bind. anyway.

the main point of my rant is, have you any idea why vlc is f...ing up via mavericks, granted its glitchy anyway but i like the "put in put out" aspect of the platform. just like a record etc.

i guess it boils down to me being a private person, i like my s..t personal, meaning i dont want my tracks to link to everything. i just wanna play an album and press stop without no addition to my ram or hard drive.

sorry for waffling on but id love to be able to appreciate itunes but i dont, i want a cassette player or turntable. you press play/put the stylus on the vinyl and play the piece and that is it, no other interference of media bull.... .

im just gutted why vlc aint playin with mavericks. i guess there will be an update soon.

sorry to have wasted a few minuites of your time.

dont normally talk on the net.

hope you dont mind me sounding off at you.

have not had the chance to check out your audio and fomr what i remember some video of your kids rendition of some spoken word.

i will give it a listen as soon as i have a mo, whch hopfully will be soon. just got in from having tea (19.20) here. a little later than usual, normally 17.30ish.

sorry i talk for britain and this is a tech site.

youll be pleased to know my book is running far more efficiently than previously.

peace, love and happiness my friend.
