Serial number

I'm buying a macbook on ebay, but as I progress, I am getting a little paranoid.

I've asked the seller to provide me with additional pictures of the pc itself (denied because the seller "doen't have a camera".)

I took things a step further, and asked for the serial number which, as I understand, is on the side of every Macbook box.

Is this the case? Do all Macbook boxes have their SN on the side? A prompt reply or some advice is immensely appreciated.

It has it on the side of the box, but the seller could be rip it off for mail in rebate purpose.

Asked him to see it from the MAcBook itself.

Click the blue apple on the upper left corner> select about this Mac > click more info.

And it will show the serial number.

Be advised if the transaction look suspicious, better cancel it and go to authorised apple reseller that give you new MAcBook with free shipping and mail in rebate.

Good Luck

I agree. If you're purchasing it from him because he is offering it a LITTLE cheaper than Apple or any other Authorized Reseller, I would seriously consider purchasing it elsewhere. Plus, if you're a student, you get a $50 (I believe) discount, plus free shipping, plus a free iPod, plus a free printer (if you buy it at an Apple Store.) Or, you can buy one refurbished from Apple for an even greater discount.

Good luck,
MV
