Cannot buy IPhoto book with version 7.1.5. Can I save it and buy it from another newer mac? How do I save it?

So I'm one of those that has spent quite a bit of time creating an Iphoto book and cannot buy it now because I have version 7.1.5 and an older 2008 mini mac version 10.6.8 Can I save this book somehow, send the file to a friend's newer mac so I can buy it? I tried upgrading to Mavericks but it says it is unable to download to this computer probably because its too old. Was trying to make these books for the grandparents for X-mas! Thank you for any help.
