Youtube favorites in ios 7

Is there any way I can recover my youtube favorites collected while I was not signed in? The app is gone in ios 7, there is a new folder in Safari called youtube with 3 entries but my favorites are not there(I checked all 3).

Thanks!

Fernando.

I was not signed in when I marked them, so there was no account in place. Sorry if my question was unclear, I'm talking about favorites that were marked using the Apple version of the youtube that used to be provided by Apple, not Google, and came with the iPad, and got erased with the update to iOS 7, and that were stored locally, not requiring any login, so Google couldn't possibly have anything to do with it...

Hey AmishCake, you might have pointed me in the right direction. I absolutely have not said yes to any question, first of all because I never wanted the Youtube app to be deleted, the update process for ios7 did that on its own without even warning me. But I have not synced my device yet after updating( I did the update untethered), so is there a chance the favorites for that app could be somewhere on my computer's iTunes? I had work related links there, I'm really ****** they did this to me, any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

I don't know if any favorites were saved anywhere. The only way to know would be to restore from a backup and check.

That being said, anything that is so important to you should always be backed up in some way. If you're not signed in under your account, then things you mark are going to be lost. If you don't have at least two copies of data you don't want to lose, you are eventually going to be disappointed. That is how computers work and the iPad is no different.

The reason why your rant was removed is because this is not the place for it. This is a user to user technical support forum and we are here to answer questions. We can't do anything about how you feel about Apple.

I take your point regarding bakups. I surely wasn't counting on Apple deliberetely erasing my data without any warning. I guess it's not a rant and I hope it won't be deleted if I use this final space as a warning to other users NOT to update to iOS 7. Apple changes things at will and does not care about your personal data, erasing youtube was obviously a marketing decision because Google is a competitor. Beware. Thanks to all for the help.

If I may, is there a link for me to get in touch with someone from apple? I appreciate all your help but the truth is this forum didn't help me at all get my problem solved, in fact I'm a little bit surprised with the general feeling of "that's how apple wants it, deal with it". I lost bookmarks that were part of a research not because of hardware malfunctioning, but because Apple decided to erase them with the next update. That's unacceptable for me. Please, anyone know an email where I can talk to an actual apple person?

I understand your frustration and you're only one of millions of people who don't back up what's important to them. I've had to tell my clients that I can't get their information back and watch their faces fall, so I'm kind of a "backup nag." Beg pardon for that. Yes, that was unexpected, but I've updated plenty of devices to iOS 7 with no problems whatsoever. You can provide feedback at apple.com/feedback, and there is a "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page of this forum. Best wishes.

Thanks Amish. And sorry if I sounded angry. I followed your advice and checked my iTunes on the PC that I use to sync my iPad. Unfortunately, it's not there. I synced regularly(before the update), and as far as I knew, that was the backup procedure that would secure me in case of hardware failure, so in fact I did backup, best as I knew how to at least. Never really ocurred to me to backup to a place Apple could not get their hands on, because I honestly never thought they would erase my data like this on purpose. I sent feedback through that link, as I'm sure a gazillion people must have. Not holding my breath.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Hey Amish, just wanted to let you know Apple finally understood what happened and gave me some hope of getting it back. I guess they thought at first that I had lost the data because I didn't have a backup, as you did at first as well. I was finally able to make them understand I do have a backup of the data, and a copy of that backup in a safe place, but if the app itself that reads that data is deleted and I'm unable to reinstall it because of Apple's policy regarding downgrade of iOS versions, than that backup data serves no purpose. And the fact that it's encrypted by Apple adds a level of irony to the story. Usually, who owns de data, has the encryption key. But not here :-)
