QuickTime crashes while using screen recording in Mavericks - Is there a fix?

When I was using the QuickTime Screen recorder in Snow Leopard, I never had an issue with the application crashing. Now that I have upgraded to the new Mavericks OS, QuickTime crashes everytime. This occurs when I am doing a screen recording of audio & video. Any idea of how to fix this or if there will be an update?

Hi all,

I'm having the same issue on my Mac Mini, model A1347 (CPU i7, 4Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD).

This problem got worst after the Yosemite's upgrade.

At first it would take some few minutes to crash but now it take only a few seconds. It seems to be recording but when I want to stop the recording it says "Not Responding". This is really frustrating!

But it is not only with QT... I also tried Screen Recorder Robot Lite and others I found on Apple Store. They all crash when I finish the recording.

On Mac Forums someone told me to backup my data, do a clean install and then migrate data back. I did it, but it didn't solve my problem. Every screen recording app I try, it hangs.

I'm also using an external USB headset (Sennheiser PC 8). Mac mini inputs only have line in, so I can't try other mic.

I also tried VLC but it only records full screen and it didn't capture any sound at all! 😟

I really need to have this working as I have lots of screen recordings to do.

Honestly, I started to like Mac a lot I would even rate it as almost good as Linux (my favourite OS)... But with all this problems, I think I'd rate it now as bad as M$ Windows... :S

Any suggestion?

Kind regards,

Carlos Santos
