Sorry, my handful of mp3's had the file name as the id3 tag name.

So, I am seeing the same thing as you.

Oddly, a while back I was trying to help someone out in Mountain Lion that wanted to see the id3 tags in the Finder.

It's all a bit silly. They should have added columns instead or changing it to tag song name.

They are transitioning to having everything reflect the content and not the file system, so this may not be reversible.

The best I think you can do is provide feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

helloo

i am talking about mavericks and spotlight in the finder window

what i want is not to show the path (i can see that down on the path bar) bau the full filename

for example : i am looking for the song : michael jackson - thriller.mp3

i put in the search thriller and in the results instead of showing the whole "michael jackson - thriller.mp3" which contains the word thriller it shows one file named thriller but this is the name of the track tittle of id3tag

so its confusing and i want to disable it and show only the filenames of my songs !!!

Having opened this issue with Apple support, I got it back from the engineers that this "clever" search result is the correct intended behavior in Mavericks and that there is no preference available for users to adjust it.

I raised the point that if you search for a song that was covered by multiple musicians, your result is just the song title over and over again without other helpful charicteristics.

There are two sollutions that Apple can offer.

Make this metadata result "name" optional (What they should do)

Add other metadata results as option columns. If we know the artists in the result, it's not as bad. It is still not how a file manager should behave.
