Why do I have to enter keywords twice?

It's been this way for several OS and several version of iPhoto.

As far as your "silly me" comment...if you find any OS w/o bugs and glitches let me know...I'd be happy to follow you to the brave new world.

Show the keyword window (View Menu -> Manage My Keywords)

Select the Photo(s) you want to keyword.

Click on the keyword(s) you wany to apply.

Even faster, use the grouping mechanism to apply shortcuts to common keyword or groups of them.

Thanks for the comment...it is a useful work around but not a solution to the question.

I use keywords and shortcuts for lot of my needs but some projects need just entry in the keyword field. Not all keywords are already saved and shortcuted in the list.

SOrry, I don't understand. The Original post mentions creating keywords first, then adding them to photos. How can you create a keyword first if you're typing directly into the keyword field?

The issue the OP speaks of occurs if the keywords exsist already or if they are new. Yes it's easy to have keywords already created, assignes short cuts and use those short cuts but it doesn't address the issue that when using the field to the right that (sometimes) one can enter a word (previous keyword or new) that after you hit return it disappears but that a 2nd attempt to enter the keyword "stickes". The issue has been around forever and is inconsistant.

The OP learning to create and use shortcuts can be helpful if he's not familar with that solution.

I've never seen that issue and I use keywords a lot. Oh and the forum software seems to be working just fine:

...and yes the upload is working now for me too, but it wasn't 10 minutes ago. Do you not know how technology works (and doesn't)? This forum is far from good (sorry Apple) for example when you follow a link and have not logged in, when you login it doesn't return you to the forum you were last reading. Far from perfect.

Where is the Library stored? Have you ever tried rebuilding it?

What's being reference to is the Keyword pane (⌘+K). Keywords can be added in it, edited, and added to single or multiple photos:

Did you try to use the camera icon to add the screenshot to your post?

I know the original post is now over a year old, but does anyone know whether there's been any fix for this issue? I'll admit it's a minor problem, but it's an annoying one. The keyword pane isn't nearly as efficient, IMHO, even with the double typing. Anyone have any other suggestions?

There's no fix required. Using the Keyword pane a single click on a keyword assigns it to the selected photos(s). Much faster than going to the Info pane in iPhoto and typing in the keyword.

I only need to type in the keyword in the keyword field in the Info pane for a photos and hit the Enter key to get it assigned. No double typing necessary.

You might want to delete the iPhoto preference file and the iPhoto cache folder, reboot and try again.
