Numbered Lists in Mail

Is it really possible that after all the years of comments on lists in the Mail app that the issue of increasing the indentation in a numbered list hasn't been addressed?

Numbered lists shouldn't look like this:

1. Blah blah

1. Duh duh

2. Really?

I understand that one is basically editing an HTML representation of the message and that there is no default HTML rule that changes the subset indent format, in this case from numeric to alpha. I also understand that we users don't have access to the HTML to make such a change (not that I'd know how anyway). But really? Why can't this just work? Why hasn't Apple implemented this? It's so obviously wrong and has been for way too long for it not to have been corrected.

Ideally there would be an option in the preferences panel "Composing" where the user can choose the list format. Would also be nice to have an option in to ALWAYS show attachements as icons instead of having to set that with commands through Terminal.

The format selection is in the composed email itself. You can always opt for the bulleted list/convert the subset to bullets...but I agree with your complaint. Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone here can do about it. Submit feedback to Apple.

You don't need to use terminal. Right click (or control + click) the attachment > View as Icon. Though, this won't set that behavior as the default action. What terminal command do you use to set this as default?

No questions about how to use the bulleted or numbered lists, only why they wouldn't fix this and my thought that it should be a global formating option in the preference panel.

Terminal commands for attachment handling are as follows:

Set all attachments to be shown as icons:

defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes

Set back to showing inline attachments:

defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool false

I found the info here: http://www.ivanexpert.com/blog/2012/08/disable-apple-mail-inline-attachments/
