Apple TV taking up too much bandwidth?
I am noticing that even when my Apple TV is off, it seems to be taking up bandwidth. When I unplug it, my home wifi network bandwidth returns to normal. Has anyone had this happen and have a solution?

Hi, this is a 2-year old thread about Apple TV 3. You should post a new question describing your problem, and what you've been able to do so far. Some questions:
Is ATV 4 on ethernet or WiFi?
Are you using any type of fancy screensaver on ATV? If so, try one of the built-in defaults.
What apps do you leave running on ATV 4? Would you try force quitting them to see if it helps? Double click on the Home button, swipe to scroll left and right, swipe up to push an app off the screen; may require a firm push.
Have you installed any games? They may need to download additional data because the initial download is limoted to 200 MB.
yeah it's always connected to the shared lib even when you suspend it
It's taking up so much bandwidth that it's knocking off other devices at times. Seems extreme for just a shared library? Any suggestions?
ATV will always use the best quality stream, when available. It would also depend on how it's setup, there may be other things being accessed/using bandwidth.
Thanks - as soon as everyone leaves work today I'll test it on the wireless. Don't want to be the cause of a 2nd outage ;-)
yes, since I switched from streaming on a Wii to the Apple TV my bandwidth has sky rocketed. I'm so ****** I'm going to sell the Apple TV. MY overage charges are INSANE.
Wii doesn't stream in HD, which uses more data. There are also other things within your setup that could be a factor
