How to move notification alerts?

I am starting to think that I use Notification Alerts differently than what Mavericks developers expect, because the location of the alerts drives me nuts (top right corner). I would like to move alerts to the lower right corner like Outlook. Any suggestions?

I like to set alerts well ahead of the event. Once the alert goes off, I like to leave the alert on screen until the event so I have a continual reminder. With Outlook, this works fine in the lower right. With notification alerts, this does not work because it hides buttons and tabs on toolbars which prevents access to these software controls. I find this very frustrating.

Is there any suggestions on how to get it moved or a work around?

Mavericks allows the Dock to be moved, how about the location of alerts?

Thanks,

Don

Can any Apple representative make a comment on this?

Apple development does not monitor these forums for ideas.

They will not reply, but it does get read.

Seriously? I came here because having notifications in the top right corner drive's me crazy. I have a dual monitor setup, and I'd like the option to open notifications on my currently active screen. Also, it would be even better if I could make notifications draggable or be able to make notifications from different applications display on different parts of my screen.

Can any Apple representative make a comment on this? There are clearly many users who are significantly frustrated and disadvantaged by the restricted ability to configure notifications. I can somewhat understand the reluctance to provide an API in order to maintain stability, but to deny us both an API and basic configuration options... our rights to control what we see on our screens are being taken away!

I know this probably won't go over very well, but you could switch to Windows 10. By default the notifications are in the lower righthand corner. People have the opposite question with Windows 10 -- "How can I move the notifications to the top right?". The thing is, it can be done in windows.

When Apple switch to x86 processors, I became a bit of a fanboy. OSX was rock solid and I loved having a *nix command line. Life was great. Over the years OSX has become less stable and more of a dictatorship removing choice from the end user. This things have driven me away. Windows is not perfect but it has become a very stable OS (for the most part), and with the addition of "Windows Subsystem for Linux" it took away the one thing that I felt OSX still had the edge.

There currently is no way to move it. However, if you select snooze it will hide it for 5 min then reappear. If it was at the bottom then it would hide the dock for ppl that have it at the bottom. Apple decided it would be better at the top, but you can submit your idea to Apple on their website because it would be nice to have the option to move it.

Thanks for the replies!

I submited the idea a few weeks ago, but I don't have much faith in that.

I did find a solution that I am happy with. Thunderbird has a calendar add-on called Lightning. It works great and it works with Google Calendar (Apple Calendar has conflits that disable reminders from Google Calendar). The notification of a calendar event causes a pop-up in a separate window that can be moved wherever I like. The best part is that Thunderbird is free and it works with Google Calendar.

Here is my post expaining how I use Thunderbird and it's add-ons.

This sort of thing is getting to be par for the course with Apple. They introduce a new "feature" which might have been nice, but I'm offered zero configurability and its default implementation impedes my workflow. So I have to spend effort figuring out how to completely disable whatever turd Apple has dropped in my lap most recently.

I now have "do not disturb" turned on 24/7, which disables this particular bit of malware. It started with my "media center" Mac Mini (for which the feature was entirely, offensively inappropriate from day 1) but as of now this "fix" is on all my machines with notification center.

P.S. I'm still running iTunes 10 on Yosemite, but it's a hack. Eventually it will stop working and I'll be forced to drop iTunes. For the first time in over twenty years I'm wondering how long before the OS itself leaves me in the same boat. Except, unlike with iTunes, there really isn't a viable alternative for the OS – yet.

Yes this is really annoying and I came here in hope of the answer also. Where have all the creative developers gone in Apple? The mobile phone is not everything to a lot of people, especially their long time Mac evangelists. You used to be able to open any Apple application (before they were apps) and just work it out. Now you have to google basic requirements. bob

I would also like to be able to configure this. I use the notifications the way, I think, Apple intended; to see when I have a new email or when a new message comes in. Sometimes I am trying to do something in my browser and the notifications are coming in fast and furious and I CAN'T CLOSE A TAB. It is so annoying. Or since I use two monitors with my mac, maybe I could select the notifications to come up in a different monitor.
