My iPad air's keyboard makes noise, even when the volume is turned all the way down. Is this normal? If so how can I turn off the keyboard typing noise without disabling entirely.

Easy at the top of the sound page is a slider switch. Slide it to the left.
Go to settings>sounds>then turn off keyboard clicks at the bottom of the page.
I do not want to disable the keyboard clicks. I just want the keyboard clicks to be muted when my iPad volume is turned all the way down
Thanks for the help, just a bit odd that it's listed under alerts and ringer. I guess I just have to toggle it every time I get in class huh ! Since I use my iPad as an alarm .
You!re welcome. Odd indeed instead of ringers and alerts I'd list it as sounds and leave it at that. Too bad you can't access the slider switch from the control center.
Aloha Raptorcheese, Good news, if you have you have change with buttons turned on you can control the keyboard volume with the normal volume control. No need to go back to settings all the time.
