iPhone 4s says it is "unable to join" my home wifi network.

This device has been connected to this network for months with no problem. I've tried forgetting the network, resetting the network settings, turning on and off airplane mode, turning the phone off and nothing seems to work. My husbands iPhone is connected fine as well as other wireless devices in the home. Do I need to take it in to an Apple store? Help!

Seems this discussion is going in circles about resetting the router when the issue has nothing to do with the router, going to a Genius Bar means you leave your own wifi area where the problem is, so they can't fix anything when they can't see the problem. Resetting your wifi is very risky, if several people or computers are currently connected just fine. That said, the issue is once I type a password that is not accepted due to a typo you don't get a second chance to access the same wifi. In fact the only thing you get is a stupid message from APPLE saying "unable to connect to network". So everything else is irrelevant it's an iPhone / iPod issue that needs to be resolved allowing users to re-enter a new password if a typo was first used. If you have a solution for this in the iPhone or iPod to re-enter a new password to a wifi network then that would be the correct solution.

I'm surprised this discussion has gone this long without any Apple Genius online to answer this issue. I guess Geniuses are hard to find when everything Apple makes is made in China.

Sorry I lost the exact place in this long thread where I read this solution, but THANK YOU to the person who posted it earlier. I went into Settings, General, About, and OMITTED THE APOSTROPHE in the name of the phone. If your name is say, "Susie's phone", change it and get rid of apostrophe. I did this, powered phone off and on, attempted to re-connect to my home WiFi, and VOILA- it connected perfectly. (btw had already tried resetting the network settings, unsuccessfully). Only thing I notice is that when the screen closes for a period, the phone reverts back to 3G. When I slide open, the wifi comes back on. So perhaps this is not a permanent fix, but it does work now.

I called Apple and shared this problem, they found the discussion thread I gave them, and were going to send a report to the Apple engineers. Hopefuly this issue will be addressed in a future upgrade!
