Using French keyboard (AZERTY) on an english Mac OS (MacBook Pro)

Hello everyone,

I am planning to purchase a new Macbook Pro in Canada but I would like to use a french keyboard from France (AZERTY) with it. However the MacbookPro comes with an english Mac OS. Does anyone know if an AZERTY keyboard will work with such a configuration?
This question may sound stupid but it will be my first mac and I have always used a pc. I know it is not a problem on pc but is it the same with mac?

The version of Mac OS X bundled with the MacBook Pro includes files for several different languages, including French, and will accept a French keyboard. You can change the keyboard layout from the International pane of System Preferences; this layout determines which character will appear on the screen with a given keystroke.

Hi, I have the opposite problem. I just replaced my French AZERTY keyboard with a standard English QWERTY keyboard on my iBook, and then I changed my preferences in System Preferences - Personal - International - Input Menu to choose Canada. The result is that the QWERTY keyboard is recognized in all my applications except at startup. It seems that the original French AZERTY keyboard is the default at startup when I enter my password at the user login prompt. After I've logged-in, the keyboard becomes QWERTY. Any suggestions on how to activate QWERTY at startup once and for all?
