Software Update install hangs in 10.9.1

Hi,

Unfortunately, after running software update, the 10.9.1 install is stuck, showing "less than a minute" for more than one hour...

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any suggestions of what to do next? I don't want to power it off during update install...

Many thanks!

I have had the hanging problem (5 seconds left message hanging for an hour), and I have also postponed the restart after downloding the update. Maybe this causes a problem indeed... It first installed something about an incomptible kernel extension and restarted, then hanged. Now my version appears to have remained 10.9.

I am reinstalling this update with an immediate reboot this time. Now it has finished restarting and the update has been connretly installed.

So, do not postpone the restart if you install this update...

Mid 2012 MacBook Air, i7, 8Gb

I too had the hanging issue after I had postponed the restart after downloading the update. Press and held the power button to force shutdown, then switched back on. Immediatley booted to login screen. After entering password desktop loaded fine with no loss of settings. Checking update still showed 10.9.1 update ready to be applied. Clicked on update and clicked ok to restart now. System updated fine within 30 secs all now appears wel...moral of the story seems to be not to postpone update

My "softwareupdatelauncer was freezing"

- Tried installing the standalone update (didnt sove it)

- And restartet mulitple times (didn't solve it)

- But after I was playing aroung in that grey "softwareupdatelauncher" screen... I hit "Enter" and suddenly it started updating...

Thanks for every help so for,, my version is now 10.9.1 after almost 10 failed attempts.

I did play inside grey "softwareupdatelauncher". Hitting "Enter" did started the update process successfully...

Thanks, Bjarnet3, that did it for me. Lame, but glad it worked.

To reiterate, if you see the gray (grey) screen with SoftwareUpdateLauncher at the top, just hit 'enter' on the keyboard.

Cheers!

I was called by someone from Apple regarding this thread! I was most surprised as I had not called them. He said they have someone who monitors the forums.

He asked me to send him 2 diagnostics files - one involved a complicated 4-key command.

After I sent them I thought hold on, what if this is some very elaborate phishing attempt? His email address was at apple.com but I think you can fake that can't you? The files were about 20Mb in total.

Are any passwords revealed in those diagnostics files? Has anybody else been called after posting here?
