Software Update install hangs in 10.9.1

Odd that hitting the enter key allowed the update to proceed. I was getting annoyed by the updater asking me to update then hanging on the grey screen!

I am having a similar issue...

I have tried to load 10.9.1 several times. When the system is restarted I am still showing 10.9 but the update screen shows that 10.9.1 is installed and at the same time needs to be instaled. Strange..

Did you hit the enter key, when it's showing the gray screen? It fixed my hanging.

I can't even figure out how to re-download the update or force the update on my machine - where is it hiding out, anyway - to run, so I can't "hit Enter on the gray screen."

Boy, I'm glad it apparently worked for you but I can't see myself responding to an unsolicited "from Apple" that I updoad 20 Mb of diagnostic information. I'm not saying it's not legit, I just can't see myself being sufficiently secure with the idea.

Anyway, they haven't called me and in the meantime, the problem continues.

(I'm now startting to get updates for other programs that won't install because they "require OS X 10.9.1". Great!)

It's this kind of stuff that makes me miss Windows (and linux) where the developers weren't quite so intent on trying to protect me from myself!

No.. It's still a problem.

Now I have updates that are pending install that depend on 10.9.1.

Basically you need to download the update directly, boot into safe mode, then run the update.

Hej, i did the downloading but i got at 30 minutes from the end the sentence an error occurred, what hall i do ?

This didn't work for me...

Had the same issue when upgrading.., computer froze, restarted and everything worked fine.

Ran the update (again) and everything worked without further issues this time.

Thanks to everyone on here my problem on my Air have been sorted. Great stuff, though frustrating that calling Apple, no-one who does the MacBook Air is available. After reading everyone's comments, would have thought they would be hot on the case.
