ip passthrough
i would like to pass through an ip address from my imac (mavericks) to my directv box. I connect to my router wireless. I would ratherr not move my router back into my office.

Are you connecting the iMac by Ethernet cable to the router or by WiFI? If you are using a cable a small GB ethernet switch would do what you want.
If you are using WiFi to conect with the router, use the Internet sharing Option in System Preferences/Sharing
