Mavericks updates installed, only to get new disastrous problems with mail

I have installed the updates for Mavericks 10.9.1. Now when using Mail, undisclosed recipient addresses are revealed. I have triple checked to ensure that the relevant addressing box in Preferences is not checked. These mail bugs are worse than anything ever experienced in Windows. What's going on, and how do I send email to multiple recipients as before, but without disclosing their emial addresses?

It works correctly on my Macs, and the ones at the office. That's a lot of Macs.

What have you done to troubleshoot your issue, it is not a general bug.

It LOOKED like it was working correctly for me (for instance, when I open up my sent mail, it only shows the list name), but people are GETTING it with all members names and addresses exposed. I only found out because a good friend sent me a full reply - and to my horror, all hundred people/addresses are indeed revealed.

Just now researching, that's how I found this thread. It appears that others here have also had the problem. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks so much for the extra input on this issue. I still have the same problem myself as posted originally. To recap:

  • the issue arose for me with the Mavericks update; everything worked fine beore that.
  • When I enter the Group name I get the display shown above
  • The Display Recipients option is UNchecked
  • When the message is sent the addreesses are disclosed
  • If I Save a message (i.e. close it off before sending and choose Save Message) the addresses are then Displayed in the saved draft and can no longer be undisclosed

I wonder if the source of the problem might be associated with the Save function, as (presumably) a message will also be saved when it is sent. Another possibility is that it's something to do with the pulldown option list you get by clicking on the right side of the Group name (for example, the Expand option is somehow selected by default), but that's just a guess.

Any further help on this will be greatly appreciated. For now, I continue to use BCC but would much prefer to go back to undisclosed lists.

Here's a little more info about this problem.

First up, I've reinstalled Mavericks following the steps given here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ph13871

But that's not fixed the problem. (However, it does seem to have fixed another little bug I've been experiencing with Activity Monitor).

Second, I've taken a closer look at what's happening. When I compose a message, the Group recipients name appears in the Message window exactly as shown in the example above. However, from the outset the Message within the Drafts folder does not display the Group name; instead, it displays the names of the individual addresses within the Group.

I've tried checking and unchecking the 'show all member addresses' option under Mail Preferences, hoping that might reset something, but to no avail. I cannot figure out any other reason for the inconsistency between what appears in the message window and the message itself as stored in the Drafts folder.

Any further suggestions would be most welcome.

And here is my illustration of the problem I am experiencing. Below is the Drafts window and the Message window when attempting to use an undisclosed list. The Message window shows the Group name, but the Drafts window shows the email address (A User) within the group, and the address remains disclosed when the message is sent.

Is this how it appears for others? If not, is there something I may be doing wrong?

don't know if anyone else has found a fix but I'm having the same issue with a slightly new twist.

I want the recipients to see the name of the group i.e "client" but not the other addressees, this was how it used to be but now I get one of two outcomes

1. if the group name gets recognised i.e. is enclosed in a little blue bubble when entered in the TO field then all addressees are revealed

2. if the group name is not in the blue bubble and is just plain text (almost like it's not going to send at all) then the recipients see "undisclosed recipients" in the TO field

neither of these outcomes is what I'm after, nor the BCC option. The only workaround at this point is to BCC the group and put a spurious address like clients@clients in the TO field which is less than elegant...
