Local weather in Weather app different than the same city

In the Weather app on iOS 7, the temperature for the city of Charlotte, NC (where I am) is one number, but the temperature for the local city, also Charlotte, NC, is different. I don't understand how this happens. It's the same city. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've included a screenshot of both cities taken literally a second apart from each other.

Hello James,

It sounds like you have the same city set up on your phone twice in the Weather app, and they both show different temperatures. The reason for this is the one on the left is using your current location, down to the zip code. The screenshot on the right is indicative the temperatures for the city as a whole. When you are setting up a new location for your weather app, you can enter a Zip Code, or city name and that is what determines what information you see.

  • Add a city or make other changes. Tap User uploaded file.
  • Add a city: Tap User uploaded file. Enter a city or zip code, then tap Search.

No that makes no sense. How could the exact zip code temperature be 6 degrees different than the city as a whole? It has been off by 11 degrees before. That is impossible. Also, how many temperature stations do you think exist? One in every zip code? Doubt it. Besides, in any weather app - including the iOS weather app - and on any weather site, if I type my zip code in the search box, it gives me a choice of city. In fact, at the time I took these screenshots, I had already typed my actual zip code into the iOS weather app, and was given the choice of Charlotte, NC, and when I chose it, it gave me the 34 degree temperature. I could not find a way to get the 28 degrees. It was only shown for the local temperature.

This is clearly a problem with the iOS weather app, and I'm not the only one to have a problem with local weather in the iOS weather app.
