I keep getting a text message from 'Unknown' and the message says Service Denied???

1) I'm unlimited data with AT&T

2) Issue started about mid-September

3) I had iOS 8.2 on my phone at the time. Upgraded to 9.0.2 a few days ago and issue still exists.

4) getting "service denied" and "message not found" texts

5) Group texts seem to be the main issue as well as receiving photos. My wife is on an iphone with AT&T (not unlimited data) and she is having no issues. She can't send me any photos though.

6) I don't use iMessage at all and have it turned off.

Did this happen about the same time that they announced the higher usage level for unlimited data users??? Maybe AT&T messed something up on their end.

Forgot to mention I'm on an iPhone 6.

Same problem as everyone else. AT&T, IPhone 6 and keep getting messages from Unknown saying "service denied". Also, I get some group texts. Sometimes I get 30 texts at once!! FIX IT!!!

Ive been having the same problem since I got my 6s Plus. Feels like all ive been doing is wasting my time on the phone with Apple and AT&T trying to fix it. Just went to the apple store today and got a replacement phone and got a new sim card from the at&t store. Still having the same problem, no MMS from android, no group messages and "service denied" message from unknown. Apple blames AT&T, AT&T blames apple. The only thing that fixes it is when I restore my phone it will work for a few hours but Im so sick of restoring my phone everyday. At least now I know im not the only one with this issue, hope they eventually fix it. :-|

Same issue here started mid September in a group text with one iPhone and one android. Won't receive texts for long periods of time, then receive backlogged texts all at once. Also get the random unknown service denied text. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue. At&t is my carrier and ive had this issue with an iphone 6, ipad Air with LTE data, and a brand new iPhone6s. I also have unlimited data on the iPhone side and there seems to be a correlation with the issue and iOS9 update.

Just got off the phone with apple support and they have acknowledged the issue. Apple rep said they are working on the issue with no ETA. I'm sure it will involve an update of iOS.

I have phoned Apple and AT&T about this very same issue. I have reset settings, network settings, received a new SIM card from AT&T and even completely restored my Iphone. None of this has worked. Something happened with IOS9 and AT&T in regards to the ability to group text mixed Android/Iphone phone groups. Going on a month now, sure is getting old.

I found a fix for this on my phone and I hope it helps you.

Make sure that you don't have a country code on the number for all of you contacts.

So if their number was +1 - (XXX) XXX XXXX, delete the +1 and save the contact. Once you have done this send a message in your group chat and things should be just fine again.

holy crap, at least temporarily, Ian's fix has worked.

att, iphone 6s, group texts that included non iphone users had not been working. appears to be working now. 2 of the 7 people in the group text had a country code, deleted both.

This seems to have corrected my issue, too! I've had success in multi-phone-user group texts, today and no "denied" messages! Ian = new Apple genius! Thank you!!!

Did this permanently fix the problem? I saw some people say they had none with the country code showing, but 2 of the 5 in mine did, so I removed them. Haven't had group texts since....but was wondering if this fix continued to work. Fingers crossed. I still never got the first message of one group text (I was so confused by one persons response) and another one came through 2 days later! Hoping this fixes the problem. Already been through other issues where Apple and At&t blame each other so I see no point in calling them because you never get anywhere. Just tired of all these issues.

FYO. Removing the country code worked temporarily for me, but the problem came back. Ugh.
