Apps won't finish processing in iTunes after updating them
I'm trying to update my apps through iTunes on my laptop. It updates the app then freezes in the processing of the file. Any way to fix this or stop it from happening?

I am having the same issue. Just started today. Couldn't download a music purchase either, stuck on "file is processing".
I have to force shut down iTunes. Then restart my laptop. I've done this several times. Then restarted iTunes. I even tried updating the apps one by one. But no matter how many I try at one time it still freezes.
Same things for me.
The only bright side is, apparently I'm not alone.
Add me to the list...sometimes I can get one or two to update, then the next one hangs on processing file. This has happened before when apple servers get overloaded....guess we'll have to wait till apple does something.
I had the same problem then I had the wild idea to go to the iTunes store, log out and then back in; after that, all of my stalled apps finished downloading. Hopefully that works for someone else.
*edit - typo
I just tried it. It let me update four of my apps then it went right back to freezing on the processing.
Same for me: iTunes on current OS X, updating iOS apps, three eventually block on "processing file", halting all progress. Some apps can update and others can't. (That is, they consistently cause a hang.)
Same issue- tried updating all apps as usual, started fine, then stopped with a bunch left to go, 3 show processing file, but never go past that point. Tried quiting iTunes, but it won't so I force quit it, then tried one app only, but it got stuck as well.
The only thing I did differently is I had a "new" iPad 2 teathered at the time all the trouble started, and was updating its software as well. Now it is not connected, iTunes restrated, but problem persists.
Also, just noticed that all songs in all playlists, including Music (main one) do not appear (they look empty!)- numbers show counts, Control clicking on "3 lines" at top of iTunes at least lets me click on next song & music plays fine, but iTunes 11 which was previously just a poor substitute for iTunes 10 is now 95% dead in the water.
OS 10.6.8, iTunes 11.1.3.
Thanks for the tip JustMe503. Worked for me also!
I'm having the same problem on my iMac today. I had to force quit iTunes and restart. I was prompted to sign in with my apple ID. Several of my updates completed processing, but three remain an issue and get hung up on the "processing file" point. It appears I'll have to force quit again.
Sorry, did not realize this forum was for Windows users, but interesting to see issue is cross platform.
I tried the logout tip, no go. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and it worked. Fingers crossed it continues to work.
Thanks, JustMe503. Your solution worked for me, but I did have to sign out / sign in three times.
I unistalled and reinstalled iTunes on my laptop once again. Still three freezes at processing and stops others from being updated. Still no solution for me.
Did you guys just unistall iTunes? Or did you install Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support and Bonjour like it says to do in the iTunes help of uninstalling?
