how to activate my pbs video on Apple TV ??
Did you not see the button in the PBS app labeled "Activate your AppleTV"? It tells you the exact steps to go though.
I too am getting the "A connection with PBS could not be established" error message. The PBS app seems to be cooked. I've given up on it and Apple doesn't seem to care at all.
Just got mine working again. Full reset of AppleTV again, followed by reactivation, and it worked this time. go figure.
I am still dead in the water. Yes, #firstworldproblems but still... reset apple tv, new creds entered, goes to app, accepts activation code via website (safari on mac, not ipad) displays app menu with featured programs etc, but just sits and spins on Accessing PBS.
any thoughts?
about ready to do yet another reset and access website on ipad. but hate to have to go do all the creds reenter.
I have reset, put in my wifi creds, itunes, all the settings, restarted, did the activation from my ipad (suggested on another thread), still dead in the water.
Now to go put my netflix, hulu, and other creds back in. rats.
I have an ipad and can airplay but still, a native app sounded like a good idea.
Just hangs on the Accessing PBS from within the app. I can see the Featuring, Programs etc. Just hangs spinning...
would have been nice, but I can't recommend this app. zero stars.
I have now tried a mifi device to remove my ISP and my network from the equation, still sits and spins. We have decided not to pursue it any further as I don't want to re-re-reset my Apple TVs setttings and various accounts on Netflix and Hulu.
PBS would have been nice but as I can stream from other sources, I will just have to let this go. Just know that it is likely not your network nor your ISP that is causing this problem.
Try a different browser. Neither Safari nor Firefox worked for me, but Chrome did work first time I tried. Good luck.
Had some time to play again and do the re-re-reset and thanks, tried Chrome but no joy. Even tried from a new PBS account. Just sits and spins on Accessing PBS with the app menu items of Featured, Programs, My Videos, Search, Settings at the top.
The activation site says it is successful, so it seems the app is logged in okay, but just won't bring content down.
My wife would have liked this but we can use my iPad to do airplay, so I do have a work around.
Yes, I sent a note to PBS but their auto-response is thanks, we don't reply to many emails, and so on. And they haven't so no help there.
okay, crazy thing.... but it is working now. Here's the scoop. I had been asked during setup to choose between two station options. Seems I chose poorly. Okay, here are the steps on how I made this work.
Open the PBS app on your ATV. It will sit and spin as always.
Point your browser (I happened to use Firefox but betting that now it won't matter) http://video.pbs.org/
Upper left, sign in via whatever account you used to activate your ATV
You will also see a "Change Stations" link.
Click it to search for other stations.
I had two options, I chose the other one.
It switched via my browser.
Go back to your ATV and use the Apple TV remote to move side to side, from menu to menu.
When I do, I now get content.
Just for testing, I went back online and switched back to the other channel offering. then back to ATV and, Accessing... sit and spin.
Back to online, searched, picked other channel, then back to ATV, changed menu, and content.
So, it would seem that my local PBS provider does not play nice with this app.
Best of luck.

This solved my problem. Thank you!
No luck using my macbook.
Sure enough, I could activate using my iphone with safari.
Pitiful user experience by pbs.
I used
Pbs.org/activate/appletv
And it took me the correct page
Yay!
This is a bit off the subject, but does anyone know how to delete a program from the Watchlist on the PBS app?
This works. pbs.org/activate/ The second slash does the trick Then create a pbs account or use Facebook
Why is a PBS account (or FB or Google+) required to view PBS video content?
Lame.
Because they are the content owner and that's how they decided to make their content available. Don't forget other apps like CBS, ABC, FX require you to have an active cable subscription before you can access their video content. At least PBS allows you to access streamed content by connecting an existing FB account or by creating a free account rather than having to pay...
