How do I delete an incompatible update?

After trying Mavericks, I went back to Mountain Lion 10.8.5. That process is described in earlier posts here. However, whenever I check Software Update, it shows an "Incompatible Update" labeled iPhoto 9.5.1 that requires Mavericks. The functioning iPhoto on Mountain Lion 10.8.5 is iPhoto 9.4.3.

Although I have had no known problems from the presence of this Incompatible Update, I would like to get rid of it just so that I don't have to look at it anymore. My problem is, I can't locate it so that I can delete it.

Can someone tell me how to do this in a very simple way? Thanks in advance for your assist.

I have two iPhotos. 9.5.1 and 9.4.3. The latter one contains a ton of photos that are family treasures. If I delete iPhoto, won't it take the pictures away too? Then, can I restore only 9.4.3 from Time Machine and get ONLY 9.4.3 and its pictures back? Will Apple let me delete iPhoto? It blocks deletion of some Apps calling them essential to the operation of Mac OS X. I'm asking instead of trying it out because I don't want to lose all those photos.

Pictures are stored on your iPhoto library, and you will keep it if you remove iPhoto. However, you will not be able to open the iPhoto library with iPhoto 9.4.3 because it has been used by a newer iPhoto version.

Another thing you can do is to restore your iPhoto 9.4.3 app (in case you have not got it) and library (it's stored in Pictures folder) from Time Machine, but note that you will lose photos added after the backup date.

If OS X does not let you restore iPhoto, delete it from your Mac's hard drive, and then, restore it

It looks like the right thing for you to do is just ignore the warning message then.

So long as you are opening the proper version matched to the operating system, it sounds like you will not have an issue.

Not every update to iPhoto required a change in the database structure.

That may be why the two different versions of iPhoto are working with the same data base.
