Hi Gang

I have a chance to pick up a nice used 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo. As we all know, Apple and other companies discontinued supplying reformat discs, (OS), with all new computers. I'm from the old school, and believe in reformatting someone else's machine, getting a fresh start. Can I purchase an Apple disc specifically for this Mini?

Is the process similar to reformatting a G5 desktop using Disc Utility? What would the OS be for this machine? Are there any surprises?

Thanx

Mike

The owner could have the Original Install Dics, if not...

You can call Apple with the Serial# handy & like get replacement original Discs, or...

Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...

General requirements

* Mac computer with an Intel processor

* 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)

* 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)

* DVD drive for installation

* Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.

* Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

Oh, Formatting is much the same, only difference is Intel Macs need GUID Partition sheme intead of APM Partition scheme...

http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/qt/partition-types.htm

http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/partitioning_tiger.html

(To Install OSX on an IntelMac the Drive it needs the GUID Partitioning scheme mentioned at the bottom.)

(PPC Macs require APM Partition scheme.)
