How to connect an Airport Express to my existing Netgear 3500L router to form a roaming network using the same password, security type, and network name (SSID)

I want to extend the coverage of my existing network. I've read that using a wireless repeater with reduce the throughput of my wireless LAN. I appears that if I use an Airport Express, connect it with an Ethernet cable, I can form a roaming network with the same SSID and password. Will the AE work with my Netgear N300 model3500L rputer?
