Any solution to the barely hearable sound when playing dvds? I've done a search and read about peoples problems but is there a solution for the dvd program (not itunes?)

I know my master sound in prefs is maxed and in the dvd program.

Thanks!

The only way I've found is either hook the MB to
either earbuds or external speakers with its own
volume control.

Hay Apple, can we have a solution to this problem?

There isn't any "Hay Apple" here. Do you think they honestly will see this message, slap their foreheads and think: "OH! We need to redesign the 1/2" speakers to better project audio... Why didn't we think of that before???"

There are three 1/2" diameter speakers in the MacBook. As Apple tweaks the settings, the audio will improve, but by the chassis design that our MacBooks have, this will never be a "loud" computer. Those little dinky speakers just don't have the ability.

The MacBook user definitely needs an external sound setup of sorts. That is just the way it is, due to the placement of these little tiny speakers.

You don't think Apple reviews these forums unofficially? The Macbooks speakers are plenty loud enough by chaging the equilizer in itunes or downloading the VLM DVD software off the internet. Apple does need to snap their fingers and raise the volume via software update for the DVD program. Especially for a computer with front row and a remote control. If itunes can make the volume loud enough, 3rd party software, Apple should! I'm sure its not that difficult. If they were worried about the speakers blowing then they shouldn't have an equilizer in itunes that raises it.

Sorry it took so long for the response back from me. I downloaded the VLM software and that solved the problem of not being able to watch a dvd without extra options. I want Apples software to do it though so I have access to it in frontrow.

Thanks!

Feeling silly....

On the dvd player there is a menu DVD Player > Window > Audio Equilizer. For some reason I didn't see this. As soon as I turned that on and cranked it up the macbook was Very Loud.

No need for a fix as far as I'm concerned. If anyone has this problem just make sure your System Prefs audio is all the way up. Dvd Player Audio is Up. And then check out that Equilizer. I think the problem is the Audio selection on the little controller leads you to believe that its the only audio options?
