I assume that you are using QuickTime Pro, to convert it to a .mov file. From there it should import into the iTunes library, and convert with one exception. Some video files, (and a lot of them are on YouTube) are encrypted like a DVD. QuickTime Pro can't even decode them for modification away from "read only". I have two CDs full of movies I cannot edit in QT Pro. Also, a lot of the videos on YouTube are not downloadable from the site, even if you're using QT Pro. That's script in the site code and you cannot override it When I need to "pull" audio from one of these videos, or any other source not normally editable for that matter, I use <shameless plug> WireTap Pro from
http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/ You can download a demo of it which is good for 30 days I believe. After that ypu'll need to purchase it for $19.95. WireTap Pro allows you to record any audio, saving it to a file for later listening or processing. Streaming Internet audio, sound snippets of a DVD movie, voice notations/narration, audio from a game, digitized audio from a line-in... WireTap Pro does it I recently ripped 320 cassette tapes to MP3 using this tool, and it saves as AIFF, WAV, MP3, or AAC. It has an EQ for "tweaking" the sound if you need it too. It's well worth the purchase price if you do alot of editing. Believe me, once you have it, you'll find yourself using it more and more.
