how to remove pdf file password on Mac?

None of the suggested solutions worked for me – but this did: http://smallpdf.com/unlock-pdf

It's a free online service. I just googled "pdf remove password online" and picked the first suggestion.

The best free tool available is http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/35106/pdf-unlock and I think this is what every one is looking forward.

Preview method does not work always and it is difficult for many to upload to Google Drive and then download again.

Thanks so much omie209, this worked perfectly for me!

This process did not work for my particular document. When in Preview, I was still prompted for the password. However, I did find a way using a similar method.

1. upload the document to google drive.
2. Open it online on google drive
3. Click the print icon on google drive
4. A print window will appear. In the print window click "Open PDF in preview" and save file on your computer
5. Open you document on you computer.
6. Your may edit your new document

You all missed the point here. If a pdf is protected, you can't open it in preview, otherwise it would ask you to prompt the password.

That's not gonna work on google drive (I tried).

The one and only solution is to find the right software which can provide a bruteforce attack in order to encrypt the password.

Note : This applies if you have the password to open the PDF, but not the password to edit it
