If the only damage is scratches, I wouldn't worry about it. The MacBook has a thing called a Sudden Motion Sensor. When the MacBook senses a weird motion (like it falling off your bed), it stops what it was doing a locks down the hard drive. This is to prevent damage. So, if you turn it on and everything is working as normal, you shouldn't be concerned about unknown damage.

As far as the scratches go, there are a ton of options for removing scratches. I've removed scratches from my iPod using Brasso, and it came out looking brand new. So, I'm sure you can find something that will buff out the scratches, leaving your MacBook looking like nothing happened to it.

Scratches are nothing - does it actually do what you paid for it to do? You know - process things???

Over time you Macbook will scratch - afteralll - it's portable. So unless you have it tied to a brick, or you've convinced yourself that it's just a desktop, you will move it around. You can't take your big desktop to bed! So in your travels, things will happen...consider yourself lucky - your investment does what it says it will - detect sudden motion and park itself before anything happens.

Cheers.
