My friends send me photos via text messaging and I try to copy them to my "photos" location on my iPhone 5s. So far, I've only been able to create a folder for the photos but have had no luck in copying photos from iPhone text messages to iPhone "Photos" location. My computer OS is Windows XP Pro 64 bit, the most unsupported OS on the planet....even by Microsoft.

Thank you so much! I am almost 60 yrs. old and purchased my first smartphone being advised by my daughter...and now don't know how I got by without it this long. Love my iPhone 5s and learn something new every day. I've still got miles to go but it's nice to know there is so much support in the Apple community. Now I know why my daughter is such a fan-girl!! in your messages, click on the picture and click the icon on the lower left(square with a arrow) and click save image.
when you hold your finger on the photo there should be an option for saving it. did you try it?
