How to degauss?

I'm on a ship and the magnetic signature is causing color distortion. I would like to know how to degauss the screen without having to shut down the computer. I've tried the help search and looking around in displays and came up with nothing. This must be possible...?

Thanks, Ian. It does not help but do I appreciate your effort. In my situation, the magnetic field around the ship is quite strong, requiring a complete shut-down, which, when the screen goes funny after 1/2 hour, is a real bummer when trying to get something done. I was hoping there was a manual way, outside of what you recommended, to get this taken care of. Cheers.

Randy,

As Ian already pointed out, there's no manual method to invoke the eMac's degaussing. As the eMac was originally designed and intended for schools on land, they didn't want students to be able to trigger degaussing on a whim during classes. That's obviously not such a good design decision if the eMac is on a ship!

Is there any chance you could put the eMac in a brass screen enclosure (e.g., a partial Faraday cage), grounding the enclosure to the ship's ground?
