Define Custom Bank Messages... crashes Logic Pro X 10.0.5

Hi all,

Having a devil of a time setting up patch names for my Proteus 2000 in Logic Pro X 10.0.5. The Proteus 2000 requires a custom bank message format to access all of its banks over MIDI, so in the MIDI Environment I select its multi-instrument and then Options -> Define Custom Bank Messages.... EVERY time I do this Logic crashes, the custom bank messages window never opens. (The same thing happens if I right-click the multi-instrument and select Define Custom Bank Messages... from the contextual menu.) (Partial crash log below.)

I have tried switching off my MIDI modules and disconnecting my MIDI interface, just to see if it's a hardware issue, but to no avail. I have got to this window before, in an earlier version of Logic Pro X, so I'm wondering if it's a bug with 10.0.5. Any more suggestions of things to try?

(I'm running a 2012 Mac Mini with Mac OS X 10.8.5, Logic Pro X 10.0.5, and a Cakewalk UM-2G MIDI interface.)

Hi Tenayo,

In the SysEx Librarian you hit the Record button. Then, on the MidJay you should find and activate some function to dump your multi-mode setup, ie. each MIDI channel's program, volume, pan. I don't know about the MidJay but typically this function is called "dump master setup" or "dump multi setup".

Note that for this to work the MIDI-out of your MidJay needs to be connected to a MIDI-in of your Mac.

Hope this helps,

Sven

Hi Sven,

I am using an external module/sequencer MidJay made by Ketron. I can see the contents of of the hard disk on my mac but I cannot identify a master setup. How does one dump the master setup onto SysEx?

Your help is much appreciated

The solution may be at hand! Apple released Logic Pro X 10.0.7 on Tuesday, and in the bug fixes it says:

Logic no longer sometimes quits unexpectedly when:

• Defining custom bank messages for a Multi Instrument in the Environment.

I will install the update and let you all know the results here. More info on the update is at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4498.

...

Test successful! (This was on OS X 10.8.5.)

If others could also test 10.0.7 and post their results below, that would be great.
