Is there an app like Pandora for 2nd gen ipod?
To stream Pandora, my ipod needs OS 5.0 and this only goes to 4.2.1. Does anyone know if there is a similar type app that will stream music like Pandora, but work on my 2nd gen ipod touch? Thank you.

If there was a version compatilbe with 4.2.1 then you should be able to get it by:
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
Othersie you need a newer model iPod
Thanks, lllaass, but that won't work with this particular ipod. I'm looking for an app that acts like Pandora, where I can pick stations/artists that I like, that will work on 4.2.1. I have iRadioNow and Radio Paradise, but they play what they want, not what I want.
Anyone else have suggestions?
I am not aware of any that will work with iOS 4.2.1 since iOS 4.2.1 is three years old and I am not wary of any such apps that old.
Yeah, I can't find any. But I have found some very good radio station apps that work on it so that's good.
Thanks.
I have an old 2nd gen ipod touch also. I am a Pandora paid subscriber and using the Ipod Safari browser went directly to the Pandora website and went thru the prompts to download the app onto the device. It notified me that my iOS was too old and prompted me to download the older version. I selected yes and it downloaded successfully and I was able to sign into my account and access my playlists.
Well this is good to know! Thank you very much!
There's a way to do it!
You have to have another apple device that can run iOS 5 or higher tho...
It can be a friend too...but then you'll be using their computer...
Anyways, once you have the Pandora App downloaded on the newer model, sync the device with the iTunes. Make sure you can see all the apps later. Turn off all the auto sync crap. Then hook up your iPod touch 2nd generation to that same iTunes. Also make sure that the computer you're working on is authorized (iTunes Store/Authorize this computer). Then find your Pandora App on the list, click "instal" (small pandora app icon should be seen on the preview screen) and SYNC.
That should do the trick. Works just fine on mine. OK, might crash sometimes...
Hope it'll work for you!
P.S.
The version of Pandora App I'm using is: 3.1.17
Thanks for the tip. Great info!
My experience was even simpler than the thos described above. I tried to do it the way the above posts describe by synching by iTouch (2nd Gen, 4.2.1 iOS) and following the rest of the instruction. It only tried to download the newest version and said I need to upgrade my iOS (which I can't do).
I'm not sure if I still needed to be connected to iTunes via my Apple Powerbook, but I was. I went into my iTouch and directly searched for Pandora in the App Store. It downloaded the newest version, but then asked me if I wanted to download the older version. I did and it's works great!
I just did what you did and it asked me if I like to download the older version, and now my itouch is the DJ of the office holiday party
Thanks
