How do I install snow leopard on to a new blank hard drive?

I just bought a new 1TB Seagate Sata Solid State and properly installed it into my 2006 model Macbook because I was running out of space. But I can't figure out how to get snow leopard back on. I've been researching all day and I've tried partitioning the Snow Leopard installation disc and it wouldn't let and I've also tried using my 500gb external hard drive with the time machine back up but that also won't work. I'm not sure what to do and when I go to disc utility it picks up my new hard drive, so I'm pretty sure it's compatible.

I assume you mean that you cannot format the new disk in Disk Utility>Ersae. Yes?

It won't let me delete anything off of it, or use it as the start up disc.

What are you trying to delete and from where? To what are you referring to as 'the start up disc'?

I sense that there is a possibility that there may be a problem with the new Seagate SSD. I think it is best that you set up the MBP the way it should have been from the very beginning.

Reinstall the original HDD back into the MBP and test it to see if it works properly.

(at least the MBP will be functioning again)

Install the SSD in the enclosure and connect it to the MBP.

Open Disk Utility and see if the SSD is recognized.

IF so, attempt to format the SSD via Disk Utility>Erase and if successful, copy the data to the SSD via Disk Utility>Restore.

If you get this far, test the SSD by booting the MBP with the OPTION key down. Select the SSD icon and if it boots the MBP, then do the physical swap.

If you encounter difficulties, you may have to contact Seagate technical support.

I know that this will require some additional work on your part, but I believe this is the best way to determine where the problems lie.

Ciao.

I need to buy the tool that takes the hard drive plate off so I can continue,

I'm not certain what you mean by the Hard drive plate. The tools you need to work on the MBP are a #00 Phillips driver and a #6 Torx driver

if I were to just buy the snow leopard disc I need would that work?

Yes, it is this one:
