My iPad has pink, fushia, purple, and blue wavy ripples and a blurry screen. Nothing has happened to it that I'm aware of. Any ideas of what may be helpful to fix it?

I'm stunned. Mine was doing this also. I was about to buy a replacement when I saw the suggestions here. I tapped around the edge with a screwdriver handle (padded handle). When I tapped near the power input port the screen snapped back to normal. To quote Cousin Eddie "I on't know".

Yup, worked for me too, iPad2! Loose connector or something I guess... Took 'many' taps but we're good now, lol!

I Found a solution, may not work for everyone but worked for me. It doesn't involve anything to do with Apple or resetting. I figured out the cause of the strange colours is due to movement of the connection cord to the display due to a slight drop maybe not intentional of the ipad. To fix this you simply have to drop you ipad caseless onto soft carpet about half a metre above the ground. This shouldn't break your iPad screen but will move the cord into place. If it just changes the colours a little bit drop it again and it should fix.

I had the same issue with my iPad - a red and aqua screen, all distorted. After resetting it, upgrading the IOS, etc., & nothing worked and I came across this suggestion. I gave it three taps, on the side near the power button, and voilà! It worked! Thanks @mdj8
