Boot to recovery (cmd r) with std Windows keyboard?

During upgrade of my Macmini to Mavericks our building lost power. Now I cannot boot my Macmini.

My Macmini is isually sitting in my basement acting as media server, so I don't have a keyboard connected to it.

Do I need to buy a "real" Mac keyboard to have it boot to recovery mode or is there a way that I can use a regular windows USB-keyboard that I have in a box somewhere?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9)
