How do I turn on geotagging on photos taken in iOS7 Messages?
I have noticed that photos taken from inside Messages are not geotagged on my iPhone 5 (iOS7). Is it possible to turn it on?
iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4

Only setting that I know affecting geotagging is in Settings / Privacy / Location Services and flick the switch in Camera (besides enabling Location Services in general, of course). Don't know if that will reflect onto apps that use images such as Messages.
I have the same problem I can't get the location information to show up
A year later, and I've finally figured out that I've got the same problem. Location Services are turned on for both Camera and Messages, but photos taken within the Messages app aren't given any GPS data. (And this has been happening while I've had Strava keeping track of bike rides, so I know the GPS is working!)
Am I missing a setting I should turn on? Or do photos taken in the Messages app just not have GPS tags? This problem is a little more serious now that the new OSX Photos program doesn't allow addition of geotags.
I had the same problem, it works now.
I upgraded to a new phone, it seems like when I restored the device from the other phone it was trying to use the old phone location for some reason (maybe a bug) I did name both devices the same...
Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> Share my location -> From -> This Device
(in my case it defaulted to the other previous phone device)
I created a little web site http://PicGPS.com that does reverse geocoding for pictures and lets you see the GPS location of a picture.
