The fan won't shut off on my three year old MacBook.

I have tried SMC and PRAM resets multiple times. Neither worked. The activity monitor does not show unusually high CPU usage. I'm stumped.

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

If you have the money to buy a new computer just for that....

The battery maybe good but not as intelligent as the MBP expects, then you better contemplate buying the real thing: Apple battery is about 130$...

You can read everythig in the SystemIformation:

Hold the Alt(=option) key while clicking the little apple, the first entry is SystemInformation(where "about this mac" is normally), then under Power ("voeding" you have everything about the battery: display this part here
