D-link wireless print server not working

I am a total numbskull!

My girlfriend has a mac and I have a pc. I thought it would be great to get a print server and network the printers wirelessly. I hooked everything up and my pc is working flawlessly with all three printers. Hers wont print at all and she is not happy with me, to say the least!

She is able to get on the internet through the D-link wireless router (DI-524) - but not use the printers.

The printers showed up under add printers and using bonjour connections. But they won't print, mac says it can make internet connection but not server connection.

We are going crazy here - any help?

Thanks from two amatuers.

This may be a question more quickly answered in the
Printing and Faxing section, but from what I read, the 524 isn't a print server.
What is the device you're attaching the printer(s) to?
If they're still plugged into your PC, that's fine, we can work with that. (what version of Windows?)
Mac and PC need to be in the same workgroup (on mac: Utilities>DirectoryAccess>SMB/CIFS>configure...the workgroup name needs to match workgroup name on PC)
Also, mentioning the make/model of printers might help someone here help you.

Have you checked the printer's mfr's website to see if there are any drivers for the Mac that you need to be aware of?

DLink DPR-1260 Wirelss print server - problem very similar

I have a wired and wireless pc-based home network. All windows computers are running xp. I have installed a hp 1600 laser jet color printer and the d-link print server. My router is the linksys wrt54gs (wireless g). I can see and print from the print server on all pcs. I can see the printer on my son's ibook g4 (max os10.4.6) laptop and have installed the printer but docs do not print (they fail to connect or show the server as busy). I feel like i'm one adjustment away. The i book uses the internet from the wireless network with no trouble. need help configuring from the apple ibook g4 to the dlink print server.

Not sure if this will get us anywhere, but have you been able to hook up the mac to the HPprinter and printed successfully?

Did all these computers share a printer previously (before the 1600 and the print server?)
Is the 1600 compatible with mac?
Newest mac drivers from HP?

Are these computers in the same named PC Workgroup?
(other threads can help if you don't know how to do this)

Have you restarted all the devices? Power down the printserver, reboot the printer, reboot the mac...

Things to check.

Yes. Think this should be posted on the printing board. That said, I have a similar set up, D-Link wireless router and wireless print server.

I found that I could not rely on Bonjour getting the printers to work. I suggest you take the following steps:
1. Open the printer browser and click on add a new printer.
2. Select the IP printer
3. As the protocol select Line Printer Daemon
4. Input the IP address for your wireless printer. I found I had to assign my print server a static address, which was 192.168.0.10
5. Input the Queue. This is probably takes the form of something like "PS-xxxxxx-U1" where the x's are numbers and U1 represents the USB printer you've assigned to the U1 port when you set up the wireless print server.
6. Select your printer at the bottom of the browser window and click Add.

This is the only way I was able to get my HP's to print.
