Choppy video playback with Airplay Mirroring

Hello. I just got myself an AppleTV. It seems to work well with the exception of video playback while mirroring from my Mac Mini (mid 2011). The video, for example, while trying to stream basic Hulu from my computer to the TV the video is just a tad bit choppy. While using the ATV with other things, I haven't noticed any other playback problems. Prior to this I was running a HD cable from the mac to the TV and had great playback so I am disappointed witht the choppy playback that I get with ATV. I got the ATV, because I figured it was time we get rid of the tacky look of the HD cable running from one room to the other to the TV. I don't want to have to run an Ethernet cable to the ATV form the router as that would defeat the purpose. Please Help! Here are my specs...

I running a MacMini (mid 2011), 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5; 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3; Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB; OS X 10.9.1 - MAVERICKS

My router is a dualband NetGear WNDR3400.
My modem is a Motorola Surboard SB5101U.

Speedtest.net says my dowload speed is 9.82 Mbps; upload speed is 2.08 mbps; ping is 31 ms (I subscribe to 15 MBps with WOW.)

My router is just one small room away from my ATV. There appears to be 6 other networks going within my reach. I am not really sure what else is relevant so here is the following info: (I don't know how to change channel configurations and Band rates etc. - When I Googled this problem many ppl were discussing changing those things.)

Thanks. Let me know if you need more info or where else to start. I'm hoping I won't have to return this ATV...

I have a Macbook Pro 15" and both an AC1750 Router. I had to combine everyone's fixes. To recap:

I turned off WMM under both the 2.4 Ghz network and the 5Ghz networks in my router admin control screen. This had no effect on it's own.

I moved the Apple TV to the 2.4Ghz network and the Macbook to the 5Ghz network. This was marginally better, and stopped the longer pauses, but still had slow video every 0.5 seconds or so.

I turned off Bluetooth on the Macbook

Now if I undo any of the above, I get unpredictable results. I was able to reproduce the video problems on another router and Apple TV (without WMM running). I'll try without bluetooth next time I'm in range of that gear.

Note to prospect buyers though, an HDMI cable is cheaper than Apple TV.

I have a Netgear N600 router; I did all the suggestions online and was finally able to achieve very smooth video. Here's what all I did:

-Attach the AppleTV to the router via Ethernet

-Connect my Macbook via 5Ghz

-Turn off WMM

-Delete every QoS rule from the list

It wasn't until I got to this last step that finally all stutter was eliminated. Each step along the way, the video quality got a little less jumpy. It started where even the audio would skip, and I was getting about one frame every 5 seconds. It now looks very smooth.

I too have this issue. Only when streaming a "vid" from a website. Was very annoying and sound was much quieter than it should have been,

I opened youtube and at the lower right side where it gives you the option to airplay, i clicked it and connected whatever youtube vid to my ATV but without hitting the play button to watch the actual youtube video. Then I opened the website I was wanting to stream the movie and voila...the video itself connected to ATV with 5.1 like sound and amazing quality without the choppy experience. Not sure why it works this way or what this option is actually doing to be different from mirroring but alls I know is that it works without having the muck around with settings. Wish there would be a proper fix but this works until then.

Good luck!
