How to connect a Vizio soundbar to Mac Mini via Bluetooth?

I use a Vizio soundbar (12-18 months old - w/wired subwoofer and satellite speakers) to stream music successfully via Bluetooth from a Macbook Pro and all manner of mobile devices (tablets, smartphones). I cannot, however, manage to connect it to my Mac Mini (just purchased). The soundbar does not appear in the list of devices in the Bluetooth Preferences setup utility, even when the Vizio soundbar is in active "Pairing" mode.

I don't want to run a wire from my mini to the soundbar, as they are in different spaces (although within BT range - approx 20 feet).
