facetime won't work with a yahoo account

I have FaceTime set up through my apple ID on my macbook. I'm using Mavericks and everything else works fine with my computer. I'm trying to add my yahoo e-mail account to the list of ways I can be reached on FaceTime and it always says that a "verification e-mail has been sent to my account" but I never recieve one. I've tried adding it to my list on appleid.apple.com, but it does the exact same thing. Any help?
