Wifi not working on all apple products since iOS7 update

I'm making this report because I have seen other people report similar issues and get replies saying this is a sporadic issue. I'm finding that difficult to believe. I have friends having the same issues.

Ever since we updated our iPad 2, my 5s which I just purchased, my wife's 4s, and my kids' ipods to iOS7 we have had terrible (mostly absent) wifi connectivty. Our laptops that run Microsoft have had zero issues. Our smart TV has had no issues. This is obviously not a router problem. This isn't a hardware issue. This is an Apple software problem.

I'm not going to buy a new router, and I shouldn't need to be a tech genius to "troubleshoot" my wireless router for an Apple-induced issue. Our Apple products were working fine with regard to wifi connectivity prior to iOS7.

I'm wondering what Apple is doing to fix this problem. We obviously spent over a thousand dollars on these products, and this in not acceptable. If this isn't fixed soon, our next phone upgrades will be with Androids.

I m using iPhone6 since a year, with the iOS upgrades prompt I upgraded my iOS version accordingly. And now my mobile is facing wifi connectivity issues and till now it's not yet resolved. My initial impression on Apple was very and now feeling bad that why I brought this apple brand phone. I realised this is an issue when my wife brought iPhone 7 and her phone is working perfectly and now I suggested not to upgrade iOS version...

Surprise part is till now the apple is not fixed this issue yet being an Leading product firm.

My issue is that my phone and other apple devices recognize the internet router but when I or others in our family try to play videos, load pictures (SnapChats), or play music the I phone times out and does not play or load anything and help for this issue would be helpful. PS when I connect to other networks or use cellular data everything loads.

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

This problem is not only for portable devices. More problematic, even my Macbook Pro has problems connecting and when connecting it frequently drops the connection. To be able to work I had to revert to Ethernet!!

I cannot watch a movie on my Apple TV without frequent time-out interruptions or complete network loss. IPads (we have 2 versions in the house) and Iphones have the same poor connection, if any at all.

Android phone - No problem!!

Nothing has changed as far as position of the router is concerned. The only change is IOS.

Had Steve Jobs been alive some @rses would have been kicked for this.

Current shareholders certainly will not want this issue reported to the media.

Giving users lengthy fixes and work arounds is not the answer. Go and fix the problem

And you see that as a problem caused by iOS7?

Check your router has the latest firmware. At the very least, reboot it.

I see the above reply as a rather poor attack on my intelligence. Those are the first things that I did. No firmware update available for a relatively new router. Soft reset and hard rest of the router had no effect.

Just read a bit to see how many people are experiencing the same problem. All with their beloved Apple products, with various router types and all while Windows and pther operating systems have no problems

1. You posted on a thread called "Wifi not working on all apple products since iOS7 update".

2. How are we supposed to guess your level of knowledge and what you might or might not have tried in order to solve your problem? People post here who can scarcely switch on a computer.

3.

and all while Windows and other operating systems have no problems

I see that as an attack on everybody's intelligence. 😁

Go into settings and clear all network connections. Then reestablish your network connection. Also remove all special characters from your SSID. I would tell you how but I don't want to attack your intelligence.

Let me put you in the picture of how this epidemic of problems was first noticed.
Shortly after IOS7 was rolled out I was in Bermuda for a workshop. We were 7 people sitting in the boardroom, of which 2 were using Macbooks. The 2 Mac users could not connect to the Wifi network, while the Windows dudes laughed their butts off. Even Ipads and Iphones automatically switched to 3G. The problem was partly corrected when we moved to a meeting room right next to the computer room, but still had frequent disconnects.

That same evening I got a call from my wife, complaining that she could not do the database work for a project (working via Citrix). My only solution over the transatlantic ditance was to connect via Ethernet, which was fine.

Returning home I was also forced to use ethernet. Hand held devices only connected when you were standing in the same room as the router.

In other words; I am talking after experience with different routers and comparing different hardware.

Something is seriously wrong with whatever was changed to the Airport utility. I just ordered Refurbished AirPort Extreme Base Station to see whether I can at least do something from my side to solve my frustration.

I have no such problems with my devices, an iPhone 5 and two iPads, exchange student 4s and iPad mini, friends two iPhones, several clients iPhones and iPads (several dozen) of various models. In short I have not encountered any Apple device running IOS 7.1 that has a problem connecting to WIFI. So it hardly qualifies as an epidemic.

I did have one device that balked but resetting all the network connections and acquiring the WIFI credentials solved the problem.
