Windows Media Player for Mac OS

I downloaded the Windows Media Player 9.0 for MAC OS. It works on some sites but on sites like CNN I get a message that says Windows Media Player not present. That's what I'm trying to understand. If I've installed it on the computer, why isn't it being recognized and the media being played automatically.

Macbook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo, 100GB 7200, 2GB DDR2 SDRam Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Flip4Mac Universal 2.1 is up at Microsoft.

yes, running Safari using Rosetta will enable WMP to function in websites. WMP is not Universal, so it cannot run through Safari unless the browser is in PowerPC mode

I'll correct myself... I meant to say that Windows Media Player 9.0 is not Universal (9.0 is the version the OP downloaded)

There's a plug for Quicktime called Flip4Mac--this will play WMP files in Quicktime, as M$ no longer makes nor supports wMP on the Mac. and to be honest, I prefer the Flip4Mac plugin anyway!

MSNBC has been very Mac unfriendly. It hasn't worked with Windows Media Player 9 on the Mac either.
