Hi Judy, both my mum and dad and i all have a similar problem, we are low on phone memory mostly due to photos and videos stored in our messages.

Is there a more efficient way we can transfer en masse from message storage to photo storage?

It's particularly pertinent for me as some of the videos in one message stream may be used in court in a few years and I'd like to back them up somehow but there are quite a few of them.

Hi Judy,

There are a number of people interested in knowing how to transfer photos and videos en masse from Messages into Photos. I have a lot of memory being used (unnecessarily) by videos and photos that I want to manage, but it's too cumbersome to wade through old message threads to find them... it makes much more sense to have them transfer (en masse) from Messages to Photos where I can easily manage them from there. I could also really use the hard drive space.

Thanks,

Kelly

Hi patricew9,

Welcome to the Support Communities!

The link below will show you how to save photos in Messages to your iPhone's camera roll. You can then get photos from your iPhone into your computer by using Photo Stream, or importing directly into the computer. I'll include more information for you below:

Save a photo or video you received in Messages - Message - iPhone Basics - Apple Support

http://support.apple.com/kb/TI88#TI88

To save a photo or video you received in Messages, tap the photo or video to open it fully. Tap the Share icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Then tap Save Image to save it to your Camera Roll.

If you have an iCloud account, you can also enable Photo Stream on your iPhone and your computer to sync photos:

Cheers,

Thanks Judy, just what I needed. I was making the mistake of holding my finger on the photo which allows me to select the photos I want to forward on to someone via messenger. I didn't find a way to select all the photos and save to my Camera Roll but was patient and followed your instructions for each photo - one, by one.

All the best,

Patrice
