I used 1234 as recommended by another user. I didn’t recall ever setting a PIN for restrictions and now it seems it was set during an up date. I would suggest before resetting phone try the default 1234. Work for me

Kind of convoluted ro force the device to erase itself, when you can just do it yourself through iTunes on a computer as explained multiple times in this very thread.
