before I buy a GTX 660, what am I going to regret

currently running 10.6.x, considering upgrade to Maverick if I can resolve RocketRaid driver issue.

I realize I will lose boot screen, which I only see as an issue as I cannot boot option to windows from the boot screen, but usually by the time I remember to press option it is too late anyway.

Any issues I am not considering?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), quad xeon 2.7, 16/4TB

Your limiting factor is OS.

Most powerful GPUs for 10.6.8 are GTX470/480.

Excluding the OSX10.6.8 portion of the compatibility issue, what about card size fitting?

My thoughts are at some point I will upgrade OSX and run Snow Leopard within a VM. Since I only recently installed the GTX 8800, I would be looking at well over a year (possibly a couple) for an upgrade to the card (if I can still find any or purchase one ahead of time, the latter I am strongly considering.)
